The simple green thumb 🌱

I like every other person who loves to cook love the idea of having the freshest ingredients, and what better way then to have my own garden? Well after much thought (fear)* I decided not to rip my entire yard apart until I was certain I had a green thumb. So I decided to take a trip to Loews and visit the gardening aisle. I purchased about 3 large wooden planter boxes at about $60 each and got some bags of top soil & regular dirt and a few little plants of the things that I acutally enjoyed to eat ; cilantro, tomatoes, mint, basil, shishito peppers, etc. I recommend Bonnie brand Plants, and I got myself a pair of gloves and went to town. I openend up the roots planted my mini plants, and morning after morning I would start each day with just watering my plants. If in the dead of summer you go out to water your plants and they look dead, don't be alarmed totally normal. Sunshine makes them tired ( just like us!) So it is best to water your plants first thing in the morning or at sun down. One daily water is enough and with your daily love in about 3 weeks you will notice your mini garden blossoming! Voila! Bravo! You have your own mini garden to make your own little homegrown caprese salad or even some yummy Friday night mojitos! ** If you don't want to invest in large planters just yet and just want something small by your window I recommend heading over to Trader Joe's and picking up their potted herbs, that is originally how I started when I first lived in an apartment and it was so exciting to walk out to my balcony and pick my herbs for cooking that night.
